Madison College Talks: Yusef Salaam will take place Thursday, Nov. 7, 6-8 p.m. at Madison Area Technical College, 1701 Wright St.
Madison College Talks will introduce a list of perfect speakers and cultural experiences centered around a community issue. The purpose of this event is to provide attendees an opportunity to explore different perspectives through critical thought and crucial conversations. These presentations are free and open to all.
Come listen to Yusef Salaam, one of the Exonerated Five (Central Park Five) tell his story. Yusef Salaam was just 15 years old when his life was upended and changed forever. He was one the five boys that were tried and convicted of a crime they did not commit. After spending 7 years in prison, his conviction was vacated when the real criminal confessed. Since his release, he has committed himself to advocating and educating people on racial disparities within the criminal justice system.
