Madison Public Schools to Hold Kindergarten Enrollment Next Monday

Parents can save time by starting the process online

The Madison Metropolitan School District is welcoming new four and five-year-old kindergarten students and families at enrollment day on Monday, February 1 from 2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m at all district elementary schools. Enrollment is for families who have not previously attended four-year-old kindergarten or an early childhood program through MMSD.

“We believe that all children can be successful in Madison public schools. We believe in holding every child to high expectations and providing the support they need to meet that high bar,” Superintendent Jennifer Cheatham said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming new families through kindergarten enrollment.”

New families can learn more about the district at www.mmsd.org/thrive-in-madison.

The half day 4K program is held at 57 MMSD elementary schools and early care and education centers. The program is offered free of charge for families who live within the MMSD or open enroll into the district for the program.

Unlike five-year-old kindergarten, which is based on attendance areas, parents or guardians may register their student for 4K at any available site. For more information, visit www.mmsd.org/4k.

Five-year-old kindergarten

Five-year-old kindergarten for the 2016-17 school year is open to all children who live within the district and will be five years old on or before September 1, 2016.

Five-year-old kindergarten enrollment is only for families who have a child who has not been in an MMSD 4K program, early childhood special education program or an early learning session. Families whose children currently attend one of those programs do not need to register again and will only need to attend the enrollment date at their child’s school in August.
