Madison365 is one of 450 newsrooms in 52 countries to recieve  financial support from the Google News Equity Fund.

The fund has provided $11,000 to support Madison365’s commitment to telling the stories of Wisconsin’s underrepresented communities.

On its website, Google describes the News Equity Fund as “a global commitment to provide financial support and opportunities to news organizations that primarily serve underrepresented communities.”

“Our aim is to strengthen inclusion, further empower a diverse news ecosystem, and specifically support small and medium sized publishers creating original journalism for underrepresented audiences around the world,” the website says.

The News Equity Fund is a component of the larger Google News Initiative.

Madison365 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization currently seeking donations in a year-end fundraising campaign. All donations between now at December 31 will be matched twice: once by the Institute for Nonprofit News’s NewsMatch program, and once by the Loud Hound Foundation, which funds civic engagement through journalism.
