LION Publishers, a nationwide organization representing nearly 400 local independent online news publishers, has honored Madison365 with its annual award for General Excellence in Revenue Growth.

Specifically, LION Publishers recognized us for our innovation in leveraging our multimedia platform and deep community connections to bring in the revenue needed to amplify marginalized voices and tell the stories only we can tell.

Additionally, we were honored for launching The Fam, our new subscription program allowing members of the community to support nonprofit media on a monthly basis.

“I’m extremely proud that we can continue to keep the community first by holding systems accountable through our journalism, while at the same time building a financially sustainable model so that years to come we continue to make sure all voices are heard,” said Henry Sanders, CEO of 365 Media Foundation and publisher of Madison365. “We believe non profit media is the future. We are grateful to do our part to let others see how viable nonprofit media can work, especially when it comes to representation of marginalized communities and voices.”

Other finalists in the category included Block Club Chicago and the Wausau Pilot & Review.

In nearly 20 categories honoring achievement in journalism and the business of journalism, Madison365 was the only Wisconsin-based award winner.

Madison365 was named LION’s Publisher of the Year and awarded for Best Breaking News Coverage in 2019.
