Gonzaga University soccer forward Demitrius Kigeya, a Madison native and son of Dane County Board Supervisor April Kigeya and West High School Principal Daniel Kigeya, was named preseason All-West Coast Conference Wednesday, according to an announcement from the university.

He has been named preseason all-conference every year of his college career, a first for the program.

Kigeya had a team-high 13 points last season. In 16 games, he scored five goals and was credited with three assists. He took a team-best 26 shots, with 15 on goal. The senior was tabbed second team All-Conference following the season, and was Second Team All-WCC in 2019 and 2020. During his first year at GU he was also named to the WCC All-Freshman team.

Kigeya played in the Wisconsin Rush youth program and spent two years at Madison Memorial before transferring to Shattuck-St. Mary’s, a boarding high school in Minnesota primarily known for producing elite ice hockey players, then went on to Spokane, Washington to play for Gonzaga. He spent the summer of 2019 with Green Bay Voyageurs in USL League Two.

The preseason poll and the All-WCC team were selected by a vote of the conference’s eight head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams and student-athletes.

The Zags open their season August 25 at Denver.
