Marquette University will host Jasmine Zapata, M.D., MPH, for a keynote address as part of its Mission Week 2026 programming. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, at 3:30 p.m. in the Monaghan Ballrooms of the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Zapata, a 2009 graduate of Marquette’s College of Health Sciences, serves as chief medical officer and state epidemiologist for maternal and child health and chronic diseases at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Her address will focus on her professional and personal experiences, including overcoming challenges and building resilience.

The keynote will be moderated by William E. Cullinan, dean of the College of Health Sciences, and will include a brief question-and-answer session. Registration is required and available here.

Mission Week 2026 runs Feb. 1–6 and carries the theme “Act with Grace.” Additional events include the Marquette Women’s Luncheon on Monday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., featuring author and speaker Maya Smart in conversation with Edith Hudson, chief of the Marquette University Police Department.

Also scheduled is the Catching Fire Breakfast on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:45 a.m., which will include an interview with Marquette University trustee Rick Dillon, former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Vestis. Breakfast will be provided for in-person attendees, with a virtual option available.
