More than 5,000 new coronavirus cases, 28 deaths reported; positive test rate jumps over 28%

The state of Wisconsin confirmed 5,096 new coronavirus cases and 28 deaths on Friday.

With well over 18,000 tests processed, the daily positive test rate was 27 percent.

The seven-day positive test rate jumped to 28.1 percent, up a full percentage point from Thursday.

The total number of cases ever confirmed in Wisconsin is now 220,091, of which nearly 47,000 — 21.3% — are considered active.

Eight patients are currently being cared for in the alternate care facility in Milwaukee.

The seven-day average of new cases reported rose to 4,259. The seven-day average of deaths fell to 32.43.

Deaths were reported in 18 counties. Locations of all deaths are below:

Additionally, three deaths previously reported by Brown County and one by Dane County were removed from the data, so Wisconsin’s total death toll increased by 24 to 1,972.

All counties’ new case counts are below. Every county reported at least two new cases today; 64 reported 10 or more. Milwaukee had the most with 640 cases, and has confirmed more than 2,700 cases in the past four days.
