Madison-area Urban Ministry will host Prison Reentry Simulation Wednesday, Jan. 8, 13:30-3 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, 500 Lincoln Drive.

MUM’s Prison Reentry Simulation gives participants an “up close” view of what it’s like to be released from prison. It inserts participants into realistic scenarios and lifelike struggles that those released from prison are likely to encounter.

This workshop begins with an introduction to the principles of Restorative Justice and explains the basic needs of returning residents. Participants receive a mock profile that describes the life of a formerly incarcerated person and they take on the role of that character during the role-play. Participants must complete fundamental life tasks, such as finding housing and a job, or simply cashing a check.

Participants also fill the roles of community workers/resources.
