Former San Antonio Mayor and US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro dropped out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary on Thursday.

“It’s with profound gratitude to all of our supporters that I suspend my campaign for president today,” Castro said through social media. “I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. I’m going to keep fighting for an America where everyone counts—I hope you’ll join me in that fight.”

Castro was mayor of his native San Antonio from 2010 until June 2014, when President Barack Obama appointed him Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He was the youngest member of Obama’s cabinet.
