The state of Wisconsin reported just over 1,700 new coronavirus tests on Tuesday, of which 480 were positive, for a positive test rate of just over 28 percent, considerably higher than in recent days. The seven-day average of new cases per day rose to 440.

The seven-day positive rate, which would be less subject day to day fluctuations in testing, ticked up from 2.0 to 2.1%.

The state reported three new deaths on Monday, holding the total death toll at 6,539. The seven-day average of daily deaths fell from eight to four.

Since March 2020, an additional 159 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes.

The state also reported Monday that more than 721,000 Wisconsin residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination series, more than 11,500 since Monday. In all, more than two million vaccine doses have been administered to more than 1.25 million people.

The estimated number of active cases — diagnosed in the past 30 days — fell below 6.400 about 1.1 percent of the 570,412 total cases confirmed in Wisconsin.
