Forty graduates will earn their GED/HSED credentials from Omega School tonight at 6 p.m. at their Spring Commencement Ceremony held at the Madison College Goodman South Madison Campus on Madison’s South Side.

Omega School, located on Badger Road across the street from Centro Hispano on Madison’s south side, has given thousands of students individual support and has helped to eliminate obstacles that keep students from getting their GED.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work each student accomplished by investing
in themselves,” said Omega School Principal and Executive Director Oscar Mireles in a press release. “For many GED students, without the additional support of friends and family, this goal of a high school credential would not have been possible.”

Some high school students are not able to graduate in four years due to circumstances within or beyond their control while other students must once again reaffirm their credentials due to relocation or records destruction. Despite personal or societal barriers, many of these students do obtain their HSED or GED with assistance from Omega School.

At tonight’s event, Omega School will also recognize the accomplishments of several supporters including Judy Davidoff, editor/publisher of Isthmus; Ana Hooker of Exact Sciences; and Nichelle Nichols of the MMSD School Board.
