Public Health of Madison and Dane County reported 141 new COVID cases today bringing the county’s cumulative total to 37,076. Recovered cases in Dane County grew to 34,548 after today’s update while active cases rose slight this morning to 2,158 or about six percent of all cases.
Over the past seven days, the percentage of positive for the county has dropped to 3.3 percent. Over the past 14 days, the rate is at 4.4 percent.
Deaths in Dane County remained at 228 this morning, with most of the deaths remaining among those 70 and older. Most deaths occurred in December of 2020 with 86 total deaths in that month. Currently, there have been 15 deaths in January from COVID-19 in the county.
Hospitalizations in Dane County, including both residents of Dane County and people from neighboring counties, fell from yesterday’s 86 to 81.
For Dane County residents, the number of people ever hospitalized for COVID-19 has grown to 1,114.
According to DHS’ website, Dane County has given 44,938 doses of the vaccination – the most of any county.
