Wisconsin confirmed 717 new coronavirus cases Tuesday in just under 4,100 test, making the positive test rate 17.56 percent for the day.

Today is the fifth consecutive day over 10 percent.

Several counties report positive test rate at or near 100 percent, which indicates that some counties have only reported positive tests, and that more negative tests will be reported in the coming days, which will cause today’s positive test rate to be revised downward slightly. Therefore, it is best to also pay attention to the seven- and 14-day positive test rates, which also remain high: Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days is 12 percent, and the 14-day rate is 10.44 percent.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 82,477, of which just over 8,100 are considered active, about 400 more than yesterday.

No new deaths were reported today.

Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 842 and the 14-day average to 786.

Wisconsin has averaged 5.4 deaths per day over the past week and 5.2 per day over the past two weeks.

The highest local new case count came in Dane County, with 219 new cases, largely driven by more than 140 new cases reported by the University of Wisconsin yesterday afternoon.
