CNN reports that White House Chief of Staff and former chair of the Republican Party of Wisconsin and Republican National Committee Reince Priebus resigned privately on Thursday, and that President Donald Trump has named Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to replace him.
The top-level staff changes end a tumultuous week for the White House as new Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci gave a profane and aggressive interview to the New Yorker, Trump came under fire for an inappropriate and political speech to the Boy Scouts Jamboree and the Senate’s effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act failed.
I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American….

…and a Great Leader. John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security. He has been a true star of my Administration
