Politico reports that President Trump has decided to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, but only after a six-month delay.

Citing only an anonymous source close to the administration, Politico reports that senior White House officials met Sunday to plan a roll out of the announcement. White House officials also reportedly reached out to House Speaker Paul Ryan, who has said he opposes ending DACA but feels Congress should weigh in.

Wisconsin Representative Mark Pocan, who invited DACA participant Lupe Salmeron to attend the State of the Union address this year, was quick to condemn the announcement.

Some have speculated that Trump hopes Congress will pass legislation to maintain the aims of the program, which President Obama initiated to allow undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US to work and study without fear of deportation.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
