In the second-biggest one-day jump to date, 349 more people tested positive for coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, even with fewer tests being conducted. Wisconsin now has had a total of 7,737 cases.

Labs processed just over 3,300 tests between Friday and Saturday, about 300 fewer than the previous 24-hour period. Of those tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 10.33 percent came back positive; that’s down from 12.67 percent Friday, but still higher than it has been most days over the past three weeks.

Overall since the crisis began, 9.2 percent of all tests have come back positive. That’s slightly higher than it was yesterday, when it was 9.16 percent.

Most new cases today come from Milwaukee County, which increased by 123. Brown County, where an outbreak at a meat packing plant has significantly increased the number of positive cases, saw 99 new cases. The death toll also doubled in Brown County overnight from three to six.

The statewide death toll is now 334, with seven more fatalities since Friday afternoon.

Slightly more people are hospitalized today — 351, compared with 342 yesterday. Additionally, 231 are hospitalized awaiting test results.

The rate of disparity in Latino populations continues to rise — 26 percent of total cases are now Latino people. Latinos make up just 7 percent of the state’s overall population.
