Staged-Reading of Lorraine Hansberry’s: A Raisin In the Sun

0

Black Olive Community Theatre will present a Staged-reading of Lorraine Hansberry’s: A Raisin In the Sun on Saturday, July 20, 6-10 p.m. at Badger Rock Neighborhood Center, 501 E Badger Rd.

A RAISIN IN THE SUN celebrates its 60th anniversary and is written by Broadway’s first Black, woman playwright, Lorraine Hansberry.

The inspiration for this play drew from Lorraine Hansberry’s personal space to properly articulate the lives of Blacks in America facing racial segregation in Chicago. This stemmed from her experience as her family moved into an all-white neighborhood.

Black Olive Community Theatre is honored for the opportunity to reprise this powerful production as a staged reading.

What’s a staged-reading? A form of theater with few sets or full costumes. The actors, who read from scripts, may be seated in fixed positions, or incorporate minimal stage movement. No memorization required.
