The Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD) has named Marlita Bevenue as its new director of strategic communications, bringing more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, marketing and digital storytelling across higher education, public education, healthcare and nonprofit organizations.

In her new role, Bevenue will lead the district’s strategic communications efforts, helping strengthen connections with students, families, staff, and the broader Sun Prairie community through meaningful storytelling and engagement.

Most recently, Bevenue served as digital content strategist for the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Letters & Science, where she partnered with campus leaders and faculty to develop strategic marketing initiatives and produce engaging content across digital platforms, including social media, websites, email, video and podcasts, SPASD said in a press release announcing the appointment.

Since 2022, Bevenue has also served as an adjunct instructor at Madison College, teaching courses in social media marketing and marketing principles while helping prepare the next generation of communications professionals.

Before joining UW–Madison, Bevenue was a senior communications specialist for the Madison Metropolitan School District. She also held communications and marketing positions with SSM Health, UW–Madison’s Division of Continuing Studies, and Centers for Independence and Assurant Health.
