The Associated Press reports that Twitter has banned conservative conspiracy theorist and talk show host Alex Jones and his Infowars platform permanently for abusive behavior.
Jones had previously been suspended for a week after calling for listeners to arm themselves against the media, but Twitter had been hesitant to take further measures.
On Wednesday, however, both Jones and Infowars accounts were permanently suspended for posting a video of Jones berating CNN reporter Oliver Darcy for 10 minutes during Congressional hearings about social media, in addition to past violations.
Today, we permanently suspended @realalexjones and @infowars from Twitter and Periscope. We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ past violations. https://t.co/gckzUAV8GL

Facebook has also taken down several pages managed by Jones.
