This week, The Youth Basketball Convention (TYBC) announced its rankings of the top boys basketball players in Wisconsin from the class of 2030. These athletes are currently in eighth grade, and the rankings reflect where they are right now in a long journey that will continue to unfold between this moment and when they graduate from high school. Evaluations were based on live viewings at the TYBC Showcase, the Travis Diener Invitational Camp, the 2025 AAU season, and ongoing observation through club league competition.
A lot will change between now and high school graduation. Growth is rarely linear, and rankings are best understood as snapshots in time rather than final judgments. These rankings are meant to encourage growth, not comparison, and to honor the work already done while recognizing there is still so much ahead. With that perspective, TYBC owner and head coach Melvin Gates has chosen to include brief write ups on the Top five players from the TYBC rankings to recognize both current impact and future potential.
To every athlete named on this list, congratulations. Earning a spot in the Top 75 is not a small accomplishment. It reflects countless hours of work, commitment, and love for the game. Whether you are ranked first or seventy fifth, you belong here.
TYBC will announce additional girls basketball rankings in the near future to continue their commitment to supporting, developing, and celebrating Wisconsin’s next generation of players.
Ju’Vante Leach
When you talk top player or top guard in the state, Leach’s name is always attached. After scouting him for the past year, we have seen a big leap to what was already greatness. Leach was the most consistent player for Team Herro’s Jr. EYBL 8-1 start in 2 sessions. Leach is one of the top scorers on the circuit; he displayed traits of a future McDonald’s All American. As the number 1 player in the state, all eyes will be focused on him.
Grant Parks
Parks is a player you build around. A true two-way talent, he can impact the game at all five positions and controls both ends of the floor. Ranked #53 in the nation, the Middleton prospect is continuing to build on an already promising future. He stood out during the winter, and when we saw him at a WYBL session, he hadn’t lost a step. He’s carried that momentum into Session 1 & 2 of the Nike Jr. EYBL circuit with Team Herro, turning in consistently strong performances and proving why he’s one of the top players in his class.
Amar’e Ozier
Ozier has the potential to be the top player in the state in both football and basketball. He continues to show pure dominance on the offensive end, attacking the basket and finishing against some of the best defenders in the nation. Currently ranked #51 in the country by Top 25 Scouts, Ozier has been on our radar for years. And since day one, we’ve said the same thing—he has the ability to step in and play varsity right now. As he heads into the summer on the Jr. EYBL circuit with Team Herro 14U, expect his stock to continue rising.
EJ Cook
An absolute force, Cook is a player who gives his team an edge in every aspect of the game. What stands out most is his ability to will buckets and make plays happen, no matter the situation. His toughness separates him—he plays with an edge and a motor that shows he wants it more than the competition. A true three-level scorer, Cook is oozing with potential and is coming off a strong showing at 3SSB and NYLA with Power.
Brock Weeden
When speaking with scouts and coaches across the state, one name consistently comes up—Brock Weeden. And to be honest, he hasn’t disappointed. A true three-level scorer, he can finish with authority—including tomahawk dunks—and stretch the floor with range that extends near half court. In multiple games we’ve attended, Weeden has lit up the competition, averaging a double-double on the season and controlling the game on both ends. The New Glarus product has been building buzz for some time and is emerging as a premier player on the Under Armour circuit with Wisconsin Academy. Expect him to become a national household name after this summer.
