United Way of Dane County 211 has obtained Inform USA accreditation after a 12-month review.

On Dec. 10, United Way received accreditation for its ability to meet national standards and best practices for accurate and trustworthy care. Inform USA, a nonprofit that serves other nonprofits and government sectors, dictates standards on quality resource referral.

The accreditation from Inform USA was a five-phase, yearlong process. Throughout it, United Way was measured on its resource database and ability to meet needs through a secret shopper component.

United Way’s 211 program boasts the most comprehensive health and human services database in Dane County.

“United Way of Dane County 211 is the place to call in times of need,” said Renee Moe, CEO of United Way of Dane County, in a statement. “This recognition proves how effectively our team maintains and supports this comprehensive and vital resource for our community. Whether you’re in need of food, housing, utilities assistance, addiction counseling or any number of other requests, you can call, text or use our app to connect with our dedicated 211 specialists. Through our campaign and generous donors, we work to ensure effective, coordinated services are available when neighbors call.”

United Way’s 211 matches up Dane County residents with vital resources during challenging times.

Earlier this year, before it held its United Carnival, the organization saw an 80% increase in calls to 211 for rent housing assistance calls. Over 44,000 called the service line due to increased challenges surrounding housing, inflation, fuel prices, rent and childcare.
