The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will formally inaugurate Dr. Thomas Gibson as its 10th chancellor Friday, Sept. 25, as the university marks its 70th anniversary.
The inauguration ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Zelazo Center on UWM’s campus. The event will bring together UWM faculty, students, university leaders and representatives from colleges and universities across the country for a formal academic procession and ceremony, according to a press release from UW-Milwaukee.
The event will be emceed by Peggy Williams-Smith, president and CEO of Visit Milwaukee and the program will include performances and remarks from students, university leaders and representatives of the Universities of Wisconsin.
Gibson will deliver his inaugural address during the ceremony, outlining his vision for UWM and the priorities he plans to emphasize as chancellor.
The inauguration is centered on the theme “Always Dream Bigger,” reflecting the university’s 70th anniversary and its focus on the future.
