The Wisconsin men’s basketball team will host a special program that will honor former assistant coach Howard Moore and his family before its basketball game against No. 13 Illinois on Saturday at the Kohl Center.

Moore played for the Wisconsin Badgers in the 1990s and was an assistant coach under Bo Ryan before becoming head coach at the University of Illinois-Chicago and then an analyst for Big Ten Network. He returned to Wisconsin in 2015 when Greg Gard took over midseason for Ryan.

Moore’s family was involved in a tragic auto accident on Memorial Day weekend in 2019 that claimed the lives of Moore’s wife, Jen, and 9-year-old daughter, Jaidyn.

Moore’s family and former teammates will be in attendance, according to a press release from UW Athletics, and fans attending the game are encouraged to arrive early (by 11:45 a.m.) and be in their seats for pregame.

Tip-off for Saturday’s game is at noon. The game is sold out.
