Wisconsin confirms more than 1,300 new cases for 3rd straight day; 7-day positive test rate remains 14%

Wisconsin confirmed the third-highest single-day count of new cases Saturday, with 1,353 cases reported in just over 11,600 tests, making the positive test rate 11.64 percent.

Today is the eighth day of the past nine that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days has risen to 14 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 11.6 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 1,043 and the 14-day average to 944.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 87,603, of which nearly 9,500 are considered active, about 800 more than yesterday.

Additionally, 12 more deaths were reported today — four in Waukesha County, three in Milwaukee County, and one each in Kenosha, Oneida, Racine, Sheboygan and Washington Counties — bringing the total death toll to 1,209.

Wisconsin has averaged 5.86 deaths per day over the past week and 6.69 per day over the past two weeks.

 

The highest local new case count came in Milwaukee County, with 157 new cases and 8.4 percent positive tests. Close behind are Dane County with 135 new cases and 18.42 percent positive tests, and Brown County with 132 new cases and 61.97 percent positive tests.

Calumet County: 25 new cases, 16.13 percent positive tests
Dodge County:  19 new cases, 11.95 percent positive tests
Douglas County: 13 new cases, 18.06 percent positive tests
Dunn County: 13 new cases, 10.66 percent positive tests
Eau Claire County: 73 new cases, 19.68 percent positive tests
Fond du Lac County: 25 new cases, 10.46 percent positive tests
Grant County: 15 new cases, 16.3 percent positive tests
Jefferson County: 15 new cases, 21.74 percent positive tests
Kenosha County: 19 new cases, 4.43 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 102 new cases, 40.32 percent positive tests
Manitowoc County: 12 new cases, 10.08 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 90 new cases,  8.11 percent positive tests
Ozaukee County: 19 new cases, 2.93 percent positive tests
Portage County: 24 new cases, 70.59 percent positive tests
Racine County: 17 new cases, 2.71 percent positive tests
Rock County: 21 new cases, 5.57 percent positive tests
Sheboygan County: 17 new cases, 19.77 percent positive tests
Sauk County: 10 new cases, 7.94 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 55 new cases, 20.83 percent positive tests
Washington County: 41 new cases, 6.66 percent positive tests
Waukesha County: 42 new cases, 9.46 percent positive tests
Winnebago County: 65 new cases, 14.74 percent positive tests

Hospitalization data had not been updated at the time of publication. Yesterday, hospitalizations rose to 326 hospitalized with COVID 19, 22 more than Thursday and 23 more than a week ago. Of those, 97 were in ICUs, four more that Wednesday.
