A Little receives a backpack at the 2014 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County Picnic and Backpack event.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County will hold its annual Picnic and Backpack event at UW Health at The American Center on Saturday, Aug. 13. The day will be filled with fun activities, food, and, most importantly, the distribution of backpacks and school supplies to Littles donated by Lands’ End.

“Once again we are grateful to Land’s End for their generous donation of backpacks to our Littles,” Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Sandy Morales said. “We look forward to this event as it brings together donors, Bigs, Littles, parents, families and community organizations to ensure our kids have what they need to start off the school year on the right foot,”

Littles, their families, and their Bigs (adult mentor) are all invited to the picnic that will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a potluck lunch. During the event, Littles set life and academic goals for the upcoming school year and participate in fun learning activities with their families and mentors.

Big Brothers Big Sisters strives to ensure that all children achieve success in life by providing strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to- 1 relationships with a mentor.
