Performances, Food and Fun to Highlight Mendota Block Party Saturday

Mendota Elementary School will host the second annual Community School Block Party from 1 until 4 on Saturday, featuring a diverse selection of food and performances and — new this year — a resource and job fair.

It is the third community block party of the summer sponsored by Madison365 and Selfless Ambition, following similar events at Leopold Park and Lighthouse Christian School.

“These block parties are real opportunities for people to gather and get to know each other,” says Madison365 CEO and Selfless Ambition co-founder Henry Sanders. “We are doing these block parties to support not only the schools but the kids and families in the community.”

The Mendota Community School Block Party will feature “a diverse group of performances and food,” says organizer Stacy Broach. “The new thing this year and our focus is that we are having a resource fair. We have invited a variety of organizations that support students and families in a multitude of ways. We have also partnered with Goodwill and will have a hiring fair for their new store, along with resume and interview assistance. We also have a lot activities that will engage the community.”

And a lot of activities to engage the kids — including games, bounce houses and face painting.
