A new Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds Vice President Kamala Harris is the choice for president of 52% of registered voters and former President Donald Trump is the choice of 48%, but the presidential candidates are in a statistical dead heat in the key battleground state of Wisconsin.
Among likely voters in the new poll released Wednesday, Harris receives 53% and Trump 47%. These results include voters who initially did not choose Harris or Trump but who were then asked whom they would vote for if they had to choose.
In Wisconsin, the survey found Trump had 50% support while Harris was at 49% among registered voters.
The results are the first installment of the poll since Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and Harris became the Democratic nominee
The new poll surveyed 877 registered voters, between July 24 and Aug. 1. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.6 percentage points.
