Wisconsin Badgers outside linebacker Darryl Peterson III was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Peterson had six tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in the Badgers’ win over No. 21 Illinois Fighting Illini at Camp Randall Stadium on Nov. 22.
Peterson is now the 2nd Big Ten player this season to record 3 sacks in a game (Caden Curry, Ohio State, Sept. 27 at Washington) and the first to notch 3 sacks and a forced fumble.
Peterson’s trio of sacks was a career-high, and he collected the most for a Badger since Nick Herbig recorded three sacks against Iowa on Oct. 12, 2021.
The Badgers will head to Minnesota on Saturday to take on the Golden Gophers in a border battle for Paul Bunyan’s axe. The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on FS1.
