Bayview Foundation is awarding its 2016-17 scholarships to three outstanding residents and community scholars. The scholarship recipients are Nanceny Fanny, Dianey Gastelum and Josephine Lukindo.
“These young women represent the best of our community,” says Andy Heidt, executive director of the Bayview Foundation. “They were selected by their scholarship, community service and leadership in our neighborhood. We are so proud of them.”
Nanceny and Dianey plan to go into nursing. Josephine wants to go into veterinary medicine. All three girls have overcome significant adversity to excel. Nanceny has also received a prestigious scholarship to attend Edgewood College. A common link between these tremendous young leaders is having strong women, their mothers, supporting them as they define their paths to their goals.
Bayview has funded 3-4 $500 scholarships per year as a way to help amazing youth on their path to lifelong learning. Their community partners Park Bank and UnityPoint Health-Meriter also contributed to the scholarship fund. These scholarships, while modest, open doors to other scholarship opportunities for amazing young adults.
