Members of the University of Wisconsin Badgers football team will be special guests as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County hosts its annual Sina Davis Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Allied Family Center in Fitchburg.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County is dedicated to supporting the community and ensuring that everyone is feeling joy this holiday season,” said Michael Johnson, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, in a statement. “We look forward to this time of year and deeply appreciate the help and generosity of our community to make this happen.”
The late Sina Davis, a long-time community activist and organizer, devoted mother, social justice advocate, and a true champion of the Allied Drive neighborhood community, passed away in July 2019. The annual Thanksgiving dinner in her name recognizes all of her hard work over the years, especially in the Allied Drive neighborhood.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County will be having many more holiday events going on through December, including distribution of meals, gifts, shopping sprees, and more,” Johnson says. “We just really want to continue to be there to help the community however we can over the holidays.”
The Sina Davis Community Thanksgiving Dinner is free and open to the public. It is a family-friendly event with entertainment and activities, including the Club’s climbing wall, crafts, and more, according to a press release from BGCDC. There will also be a live DJ and giveaways, including a TV, gift cards, and electronic devices. To register, click here.
