Centro Hispano announced on Tuesday that the non-profit organization on Madison’s South Side serving Dane County Latinx population will be teaming with Fontana Sports for a 5K run/walk on Sept. 17
“The core of Centro’s mission is community, togetherness, and a focus on what is possible when we partner for the betterment of families,” Centro Executive Director Karen Menéndez Coller said in a press release. “This run/walk is a chance to show up for one another, to celebrate our heritage, and to walk (or run!) side by side in unity. We are incredibly grateful to Fontana Sports for their collaboration to help make this run/walk possible.”
On Sept. 17, the race will start at 5:30 p.m. at 216 North Henry Street in downtown Madison. There is need to sign up in advance. Those interested in taking part can just show up that evening, make a $5 contribution and then take off, heading for the
finish line. All proceeds raised will go to support the work of Centro. Refreshments will be available after runners, joggers, and walkers complete their journey that evening.
“We are fortunate to live in a caring, compassionate community where people understand the value of belonging and live with a shared purpose,” Menéndez-Coller said. “We look forward to lacing up our shoes with a lot of our friends and enjoying some physical
fitness and fun for Centro.”
This is the first time Centro has been part of a 5K. Sign-up details and more information about the event can be found here.
