Christina Gomez Schmidt has won the primary election for Madison Metropolitan School Board of Education seat 6.
Gomez Schmidt, who works for Galin Education developing after school and summer enrichment courses, narrowly defeated Maia Pearson with 51.6 percent of the vote.
Gomez Schmidt will take over the seat currently held by Kate Toews, who did not seek re-election.
