Christopher Peguero, a community engagement and nonprofit leader with more than 25 years of experience advancing public service, organizational development, strategic partnerships, and community-centered initiatives, has been named the new executive director of the Linda & Gene Farley Center for Peace, Justice and Sustainability, the organization announced on Monday.
The Farley Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ecological sustainability, social justice and peace. It is located outside of Verona, Wisconsin, in the Town of Springdale on 108 acres of beautiful farm and wooded land.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of serving organizations committed to justice, equity, and community. What feels different about the Farley Center is how those values are lived every day through our relationship with the land,” Peguero said in a statement. “The work here is deeply relational. It asks us to care for one another and for the land, and recognize that these relationships are inseparable. Every day, I develop a deeper respect for this land and for the generations of people whose vision and stewardship have created something truly special.”
Peguero has held leadership roles with Type One Energy, Promega, Seattle City Light, and the City of Madison, where he led efforts focused on community engagement, workforce development, sustainability, and organizational effectiveness, according to a press release, and he currently serves on the Verona Area School District Board of Education.
Peguero was recognized as one of Wisconsin’s Most Influential Native American Leaders by Madison365 in 2024. In 2026, he received the Judi Devereux Community Activist Award from GSAFE.
