Wisconsin junior inside linebacker Jack Cichy has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following a career performance last Saturday vs. Ohio State.
Cichy was a dominant force for the Badgers’ defense, finishing with a career-high 15 tackles, including 11 solo stops. He recorded 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble. It was part of an effort that saw Wisconsin hold a Buckeyes offense that entered the game averaging 52.3 points per game to just 23 in regulation.
A former walk-on, Cichy leads the Badgers with 50 total tackles and ranks second on the team with 7.0 TFLs on the year. He ranks eighth in the Big Ten this season, averaging 8.33 tackles per game.
Cichy’s efforts have the Badgers ranked No. 9 in the FBS in scoring defense at 15.2 points per game. The Badgers also rank 12th in total defense, allowing 311.3 yards per game.
