As Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump makes his second visit to Green Bay since becoming the nominee today, Congressman Mark Pocan is asking that Wisconsin politicians withdraw their endorsements.

“As Donald Trump comes back to Wisconsin today in his quest for the White House, I call on Governor Scott Walker, Senator Ron Johnson and Speaker Paul Ryan to do the right thing and withdraw their endorsements of this seriously flawed candidate for President,” Pocan, the U.S. representative for the 2nd District of Wisconsin, said in a statement. “While Republicans in Arizona, Ohio, and across the country have pulled their support after finally acknowledging that Donald Trump is a misogynist and race-baiting bigot, Ryan, Walker, and Johnson are instead putting party before country. Their allegiance shouldn’t be to the Republican Party, but rather what is best for the state of Wisconsin and our country.”

Trump’s rally will be at the KI Convention Center and take place at 6 p.m. Trump originally planned two visits today, but his campaign canceled a second appearance in West Allis, and pushed back the Green Bay rally from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is his fourth overall trip to Wisconsin.

Several top Republicans will not be attending the event. Gov. Scott Walker won’t attend because he is speaking at GOPAC event in New Jersey to train Republicans running for office. U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has a prior commitment. Mike Gallagher, who is running for the 8th District Congressional seat, won’t attend because he is preparing for a debate.

“Real leadership means doing what is right, not what is politically expedient,” Pocan said. “Simply saying you won’t stand next to him, but that you do stand with him in his quest for the White House is ultimately destructive and will go down in history as a serious flaw in judgment. I truly hope each will stand up against this lowest common denominator of politics that Trump is exhibiting.”
