Dr. Scott Flanagan, President of Edgewood College, has joined more than 70 presidents of Catholic colleges and universities in signing a pledge of support for undocumented college students meeting the criteria of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.

The statement, released this week, reads in part, “We, the undersigned presidents of Catholic colleges and universities, express hope that the students in our communities who have qualified for DACA are able to continue their studies without interruption and that many more students in their situation will be welcome to contribute their talents to our campuses.”

Dr. Flanagan is also among more than 400 college and university presidents who have supported Pomona College’s Statement in Support of the DACA Program and our Undocumented Immigrant Students.

Created in 2012, DACA allows that certain undocumented people who came to the United States as children and meet several guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal. One of the guidelines is enrollment in or graduation from a college or university in the United States.
