Fabiola Hamdan, a longtime community leader and Madison College alumna, has been appointed as the newest member of the Madison College District Board.
Hamdan brings more than 25 years of experience in human services, leadership, and advocacy for children, families and immigrant communities, according to a press release from Madison College. Hamdan has served on Gov. Tony Evers’ State Council on Affirmative Action, the Latino Consortium for Action, and other committees. She has received numerous honors for her leadership and community service, including the YWCA Women of Distinction Award, the National Association of Social Workers Distinguished Service Award and the 2020 United Way Women United Philanthropy Award.
“Fabiola’s commitment to listening, advocating and creating opportunities for children and families will be a tremendous asset to the Board,” said Madison College District Board Chair Shiva Bidar-Sielaff in a statement. “Her leadership and knowledge of the communities we serve will be key as we continue our mission to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.”
Hamdan is currently a human services manager with Dane County, where she became the first Immigration Affairs Supervisor. She succeeds Shana Lewis on the district board and is appointed to serve through June 2029.
