Forward Madison adds Jamaican scoring threat Rojay Smith

Forward Madison FC has signed former Sporting Kansas City II striker Rojay Smith for the 2022 season, the club announced Monday.

Smith, 25, hails from Portmore, Jamaica. He got his start with the Harbour Boys youth program before dominating at the junior college level for Northern Oklahoma, where he scored 33 goals in 37 games. His sophomore year he scored 21 goals in 18 games, including two hat tricks and a brace. He moved on to the University of Tampa, where he scored eight goals and talled seven assists in 27 appearances. He signed with USL Championship side Sporting Kansas City II for 2021, where he scored five goals.

“We’re very excited to welcome Rojay to the FMFC family,” Head Coach Matt Glaeser said. “Rojay is a dynamic and explosive young player with a very high ceiling. We expect him to play an important role for us in 2022.” 

Smith is expected to add an attacking threat on the wing along with returning midfielders like Derek Gebhard and Justin Sukow.
