Forward Madison FC has signed 25-year-old midfielder Isidro Martinez, the 2015 Texas Gatorade Player of the Year, the soccer organization announced in a press release Monday.

Martinez was a mainstay in USL Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC, making 48 appearances from 2019-2020 before a one-year stint with New Mexico United, where he made 30 appearances. In 2022, Martinez went back to Rio Grande, where he appeared in the club’s USL Championship playoff match.

“Isidro’s quality has shown in all levels that he’s played at in his career,” Forward Madison Head Coach Matt Glaeser said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to seeing the impact he can have in Madison this season.”

Martinez was born in Brownsville, Texas, where he attended Simon Rivera High School and led the soccer team to a 28-0-0 record his senior season, winning the 6A Texas State Championship.

Martinez will join the Flamingos for the 2023 season pending league and federation approval.
