The Goodman Community Center has announced the start of its 36th annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive, which provides the fixings for families to make full Thanksgiving meals at home, and Goodman is appealing to the public to help collect the food and money needed to fill all 4,000 planned baskets.
“Grocery prices are still high and just like other food pantries both in Dane county and nationwide, we’re seeing a record number of people in our pantry,” said GCC Food Pantry Assistant Director Francesca Frisque in a statement. “People are struggling to make ends meet. Our Thanksgiving Basket Drive helps ease the burden on families and helps them prepare a Thanksgiving meal that might have otherwise been outside their budget.”
Community members who would like to help in the Thanksgiving Basket Drive can make financial donations online here or donate food at the center or host a food drive.

“Being able to make a Thanksgiving dinner isn’t just about a single meal. It’s about dignity. It’s about making space for families to come together,” said Letesha Nelson, Goodman Center CEO. “This is a community-wide effort. Every year, thousands of people
pull together to make this incredible drive happen. There is more need than ever this year, but I think this community can rise to the moment.”
