Jamie Sims named inaugural principal of Sun Prairie West High School
Longtime educational leader Jamie Sims has been selected as the inaugural principal of Sun Prairie West High School and will begin work on Friday, July 1.
Sims, who earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from the University of West Georgia and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College, currently is an adjunct instructor in the master’s degree program for Educational Leadership at Edgewood College and has 17 years of service in the educational field.
“A big part of my own leadership style is being able to lead in a way in which the people that I work with, or serve, and the people I work for know my why, and they know my purpose and they know my passion,” Sims told Madison365 in an interview back in July of 2021 as Middleton’s athletic director.
Originally from Georgia, Sims has held various leadership positions in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District and the Madison Metropolitan School District including dean of students, assistant principal, principal, and athletic director across the middle and high school levels.
“During his 17 years of service in the educational field, he has brought transformational change regarding issues connected to race, equity, belonging, instructional leadership, and education-based athletics,” Sun Prairie Schools said in a statement announcing the selection of Sims as principal.
Sims selection is pending Sun Prairie School Board approval on Monday, Feb. 14.
