The Milwaukee Brewers just wrapped up one of the best seasons they’ve had in a while finishing the season at 93-69 and winning their division by a whopping 10 games. Jerome Hunt, a Madison/Milwaukee hip-hop artist who goes by the stage name Romey, has constructed the song that he hopes will fire up the Brewers and their fans through the postseason. His “Brew Crew” anthem, which officially drops on Friday, has been a staple at Brewer games during their stretch run.

“I was at the Brewers game on Saturday night and they played my song 8 times in a row and they just panned the cameras all through the crowd and you could see all these people dancing and going crazy,” Hunt tells Madison365. “That Saturday game was so electric and I was glad I was in the building to see it. [Milwaukee Bucks star] Giannis [Antetokounmpo] and his family were there. There was so much energy there that night.

“It’s been cool to watch the song blow up. It’s already in rotation on 105.7 FM in Milwaukee.  On Thursday, 93.1 FM JAMZ will put it into rotation there,” he adds.

Hunt gives credit to DJ Stretch for helping him get the “Brew Crew” song (here’s a short clip from it above) out to the masses.

“DJ Stretch is my real in-house DJ over the past 15 years and he’s the stadium DJ for the Milwaukee Brewers,” Hunt says. “He does all my parties and concerts at Madison for Get Rich Records. He’s originally from Milwaukee, and he’s not only the stadium DJ for the Brewers, he’s also the DJ inside the arena for the [Milwaukee] Bucks and he does the Kohl Center for the UW men’s and women’s games.”

Hunt, who spent his formative years in both Milwaukee and Madison, put together the Brew Crew song about a month ago. “[DJ] Stretch played it at the Brewers game vs. Colorado the weekend before last. That Monday morning I got an email from his boss, Amanda [Beierle Brewers Entertainment Producer], saying that they love the song. And it just went off from there,” Hunt says.

Hunt used to live right off the I-94 highway close to the stadium as a youngster and has fond memories of being a big Milwaukee Brewer fan as a kid.

“I grew up on 34th and Clybourn and I went to Milwaukee Washington [High School] right there,” he remembers. “Once you cross over the 35th Street Bridge, you could pretty much walk down to the stadium, or I would ride my bike to the stadium. But when you walked over the bridge, because Miller Brewery is right in the neighborhood, you could smell the beer immediately.

“The neighborhood that I lived in, and the park that I would play basketball, baseball and football in, is literally on the side street where the brewery is. I would go to so many games as a kid and I remembered when they built the new Brewers baseball park [Miller Park; now American Family Field],” Hunt adds. “It’s been a journey from me as a kid growing up admiring the Brewers to throwing out the honorary first pitch at a Brewers game [against the Yankees] and now hearing my Brew Crew song getting the crowd going at the park. It’s just surreal.”

This is Hunt’s second professional team anthem song that he has created. When the Milwaukee Bucks won their first NBA title in 50 years back in 2021, he launched his hit song “Fear the Deer (Championship Anthem)” which he performed live at a halftime show of a Bucks game at Fiserv Forum.

“Two years ago, I threw out the first pitch at the Brewers/Yankees game and the Brewers organization came to me and said ‘Can you do what you did with the Bucks for the Brewers?’” Romey remembers.

The Brew Crew song will officially be out on Friday on Apple Music and iTunes and all the places where people get music.

Romey now has an official Bucks song and a Brewers song … so what about an official Packers song?

“That’s coming. That is going to be huge. That song will change my entire life,” he says.

In the meantime, he’s going to enjoy the Brewers playoff push that got off to a rocky start last night with a loss to the New York Mets, but Hunt hopes the song can be a good luck charm that hopefully leads the Brew Crew deep into the playoffs.

“I think the Brewers have a great chance in these playoffs. They got me behind them,” Romey laughs. “I got behind the Bucks and they won a championship. So the energy is definitely going to be there. The track record is there. The Brewers really love the song and the fans love the song. I’m happy about it.”
