Madison Gas and Electric’s annual Día de Fútbol will return this Saturday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Breese Stevens Field, offering a family-friendly blend of soccer, culture, and energy education.
Now in its 10th year, the event features free soccer clinics for kids ages 5–17 led by Forward Madison’s youth academy coaches. This year’s event will also feature a special appearance from international Mexican soccer star Marco Fabián, who will lead a clinic and share his story with families.

But the day is about more than just fútbol. Soccer serves as “a conductor to our families … a way to connect with our community in a way that speaks to the culture and our traditions, but still engages topics around energy efficiency and sustainability,” said Gloria Castillo, MGE’s Customer Engagement and Community Services Manager.
Throughout the festival, families will be able to explore exhibits on electric vehicles, solar panels, and home energy efficiency, while connecting directly with MGE experts. The event will also feature food, music, and activities hosted by more than a dozen community partners, including the Madison Children’s Museum and several local nonprofits.
Importantly, Día de Fútbol is free and bilingual in English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for all families.
Castillo says the goal is to make clean energy approachable: “This technology is here to stay … it’s not some far-away thing. Everybody should have access to it, and we want families to have the information they need.” Registration is encouraged, but not required. More details are available at go.mge.com/diadefutbol
