The tradition of welcoming new faculty of color and honoring faculty of color will continue on Thursday, Feb. 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge of the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street. The public and campus community are invited to this free event.

Hosted by Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer Patrick J. Sims and co-host Professor Ruth Litovsky, University Committee member, the Annual Faculty of Color Reception is an opportunity to welcome new faculty of color and honor newly promoted faculty of color, and network with colleagues.

UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank and Provost Sarah Mangelsdorf will address the honorees in a short program at 5:30 p.m., making this a truly festive community-building event.

“We are very pleased to meet, honor and welcome new faculty to UW-Madison,” Sims said. “Celebrating the diversity of our faculty is critical and this event is just one of the ways that we partner with Deans across campus to acknowledge our vibrant and increasingly diverse community on campus.”

The event will honor the 16 recently promoted faculty of color and welcome 18 new faculty of color to campus.

“We encourage faculty honorees to bring a mentor/ or valued colleague to this reception, as well as their friends and colleagues from the community,” Litovsky said. “Our faculty members work with many communities on and off campus and this is an opportunity for networks to converge.”
