The state of Wisconsin reported just over 5,846 new coronavirus tests on Thursday, of which 1,046 were positive. The seven-day average of new cases per day jumped to 733.

The seven-day positive rate, which would be less subject day to day fluctuations in testing, rose to 3.8 percent.

The state reported 14 new deaths on Thursday, increasing the total death toll to 6,667.

The seven-day average of daily deaths rose slightly to six.

Since March 2020, an additional 159 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes.

The estimated number of active cases — diagnosed in the past 30 days — rose to just over 7,700, about 1.3 percent of the 581,726 total cases confirmed in Wisconsin.

The state also reported Monday that nearly 1.3 million Wisconsin residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination series. Nearly 91,000 doses were reported over the past 24 hours. In all, almost 3.3 million vaccine doses have been administered to more than two million people.
