The state of Wisconsin reported 82 COVID deaths on Saturday, but removed five from the data, so the total death toll went up by 77 to 3702. The state has reported 392 deaths over the past five days. An additional 75 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day daily death average is now 59.57, the highest it’s ever been, and the 14-day average is 50.

Thirty-three counties reported at least one fatality. Racine County reported the most with nine for the second consecutive day, as did Waukesha County, which reported eight yesterday.

Meanwhile the state reported 4,831 new coronavirus cases, on just over 13,000 tests, for a daily positive test rate of about 35.9 percent. On Friday, the state reported roughly the same number of cases — 4,847 — on more than 15,000 tests.

Still, the seven-day positive rate for all people tested slipped from 31.7 percent to 31.3, and the positive rate for all tests is now 13.4. The number of active cases is now just over 62,000 — about 15.2 percent of the 409,386 total cases the state has confirmed to date.

The seven-day average of new cases per day increased to 4,114.

The number of people hospitalized continued a steep drop, falling by 67 to 1,593. Of those, 343 are in ICUs, 28 fewer than yesterday.
