The UW–Madison Extension’s Human Development & Relationships Institute will host the third annual Fathers in Focus conference on Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m.-4 p.m at Madison Area Technical College Truax Campus.

“Fathers in Focus is a space where fathers can connect and be supported so they can strengthen their roles in their families and communities,” says Dr. Alvin Thomas, event co-chair and associate professor at the UW–Madison School of Human Ecology, in a statement. “Fathers, father figures, advocates and community leaders from around Wisconsin and the United States learn and grow at Fathers in Focus.”

This free, daylong event will feature 18 presenters and a panel discussion to help fathers build their parenting skills and support networks. Keynote speaker Mike de la Rocha is the USA Today-bestselling author of Sacred Lessons: Teaching My Father How to Love.

Fathers in Focus, a collaboration with Madison Area Technical  College and Madison Metropolitan School District, will offer six educational tracks, including co-parenting, relationship and parenting skill-building, child support and finances, custody challenges, mental health, and justice-involved families.

Fathers in Focus includes a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages. Service providers who work with fathers and families are invited to participate and network. To register, click here.
