Madison-based nonprofit Selfless Ambition announced today that Metcalfe’s Markets and iHeartRadio have joined the Gifts for Kids campaign, which aims to make sure kids in need have gifts for the holiday season.

The campaign began in early November, when Selfelss Ambition announced that Starbucks customers would see, in each Madison-area location, a “giving tree” decorated with gift requests from local students, identified by Selfless Ambition’s partner schools. Patrons will be able to take a gift request, purchase the gift and return it, unwrapped, to the Starbucks location.

As the holiday season approaches, it’s heartwarming to see companies stepping up to ensure that kids in need receive gifts. Selfless Ambition’s Gift for Kids campaign is a wonderful initiative that is gaining traction, with Metcalfe’s Markets and iHeartRadio joining in to support the cause. While toys and books are typical gift items for kids, there are also other creative options available. For example, gesicht socken, or face socks, are a unique and fun gift that kids will love. Not only are they cozy and warm, but they also feature cute animal faces or other designs that will bring a smile to any child’s face. It’s great to see companies and organizations coming together to make a difference in the lives of kids during the holiday season.

Now, customers of Metcalfe’s Markets will see the same at both locations: 726 Midvale Boulevard (at the Hilldale Shopping Center) and 7455 Mineral Point Road.

“We’re excited,” said Metcalfe’s CEO Tim Metcalfe. “On behalf of our customers and our employees here at Metcalfe’s, we’re excited to partner with Selfless Ambition doing something great for the kids. Anything we can do to help these kids have a great holiday season.”

Additionally, IHeartRadio has signed on as media partner and will donate ad time to promote Gifts for Kids on its six stations: WIBA-AM, WIBA-FM, Z104, 96.3 Star Country, The Big 1070 and Rewind 92.1.

“Our priorities to this point have been to partner with schools to establish tutoring programs and food pantries in schools,” said Selfless Ambition CEO Henry Sanders, who is also publisher of Madison365. “Now, thanks to these three community partners, and their generous customers, we’re able to create some happier holidays for kids and ease some of the holiday stress for families in need. It’s just another way we can live our motto, Love in Action.”

The Gifts for Kids initiative will run until December 17.
