The Urban League of Greater Madison will join with the Construction Workforce Diversity Alliance of South Central Wisconsin (CWDA) to host Apprenticeship Information Sessions today from 2-3 p.m. at the Dane County Job Center on Madison’s east side.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Urban League and the CWDA will have information at the Dane County Job Center on Aberg Avenue. Information about what skilled trades are, what apprenticeships are and how to become an apprentice will be handed out.

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a national celebration that offers leaders in business, labor, education, and other critical partners a chance to demonstrate their support for apprenticeship.

The purpose of the Apprenticeship Information Sessions, which will be happening on the second Tuesday of each month, is to display the multitude of skilled trades that can be pursued for a living wage. Skilled trade apprentices earn an average starting salary of $17.23 per hour.

People who are already skilled at learning on the job, solving mechanical problems, and are good at hands-on work are encouraged to participate, but anyone desiring to learn new skills is especially welcome.

The Dane County Job Center is located at 1819 Aberg Ave in Madison. There is no cost to attend.
