The United Asian Consortium will host Asian-American Celebration Night tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Sun Prairie East High School.
Community members are invited to attend this free event and learn more about Asian culture. There will be free Asian cuisine, Asian arts and crafts, a free raffle, performances, a multicultural fashion show, a photo booth, activities and more.
“I’m so proud of our afterschool youth who volunteer their time to create this large-scale community event. They are learning teamwork, leadership skills, organizing skills, networking skills and volunteering opportunities,” Mayder Lor, MSCR High School Recreation Specialist at East High School, said in a press release.
The MSCR United Asian Clubs at East and La Follette High Schools, along with Sun Prairie East High School United Asian Clubs, are taking the lead on organizing this family engagement night and resource fair. This special night is open to all people to connect and learn about other cultures.
Lor’s family is originally from Ban Tha Din Diang Tai, Laos. “I want our children to appreciate our Asian heritage and where their families came from and their struggles,” Lor says. She has personally raised funds to build a preschool with the help of the United Asian Consortium in 2018-2019 when they hosted the United Asian Consortium Showcase.
